Pasteurised Tilsiter – Switzerland’s Cheese Classic
It was with pasteurised Tilsiter, the mild cheese with the green label, that our company’s history began in 1954. Back then, Tilsiter was still called “Strähl-Käse” (Strähl Cheese). The reason is simple: Paul Strähl senior, the pasteurised Tilsiter pioneer, wanted to make his cheese unmistakable; therefore he used a stencil to make the Strähl logotype on the cheese stand out in relief. Hence the name “Strähl-Käse”. Today, pasteurised Tilsiter is still made following the proven recipe. Excellent quality is given foremost priority – nothing has changed in this regard after more than fifty years. Except that the company logotype printed in relief has gone, replaced by the green Tilsiter label.
